Frequently asked questions
Common questions and answers about Zeep Mobile.
-
So it's really free?
Yes, using our API to send messages is absolutely free for developers. Standard carrier charges apply when your users receive them. To support our service, we reserve the last 40 characters of each message you send for a small ad teaser.
-
What countries do you support?
Our service works on all major carriers in the United States. Here's a complete list.
-
Are there any limits or restrictions how many messages I can send?
No, there are no restrictions on volume or frequency of sending messages. We have a fixed amount of messages we can send to subscribers per second - if your requests come in fast than our limit, then we put your request in a queue and send it what it's that message's turn. In case of heavy volume, it might take a bit of time for all of your messages to get through to subscribers.
-
Why must I subscribe my users through the web?
You have to use the Mobile Settings Panel because it ensures a proper (ie. Carrier-approved) subcription process for your users. It prevents someone from abusing our system by sending unsolicited messages.
-
Are there any other ways to subscribe users?
Not currently - but we're working on a way to allow users to subscribe by sending a text message to your website instead of using hte Mobile Panel. Stay tuned.
-
Can I bulk subscribe my existing users?
Unfortunately, no. In order to receive messages via our API, each of your users will have to use the Mobile Settings Panel to subscribe. If you have lots of existing users that have already signed up to mobile features that you want to transfer to Zeep Mobile, contact us and we'll see if we can work something out.
-
What are the API and Secret Keys for?
The API key allows you to embed the Zeep Mobile panel in your website so that people can sign up to receive messages from you. You use your Secret key when you send us a request to send a message—it proves that it's really your website sending the text message. It protects you and us from someone stealing your API key (which is public) and sending messages to your users.
For more details on using the keys during authentication, check out
the documentation.
-
Will you send unsolicited ads to my users?
No! We reserve the last 40 characters of every message you
send to display a teaser ad. Your users must reply on their mobile phone with
order to receive more information about the ad.
